Encouraging One Person at a Time
A Woman’s Work…
Within the fibers of her skin lie the struggles of her past always having to fight against perception and stereotypes. Though strong for everyone else, she stands alone in time of need. Who will say to her, “Hold on, everything will be alright.” Friends and loved ones automatically assume that she is o.k. because of the strength that she had to always exude with taking care of other things, “master of any situation” you would think, but she knew other wise. She operated so much in this endless cycle of demands, that she has even convinced herself that flying on “auto pilot” is o.k. Who would rescue her from this endless tempo, beating faster and faster, like an African drum? Running with no end, reaching forward, but for what? Has she lost herself in all of what life has charged her to be steward over? Career, children, lover, friend, confidant, counselor, stress, health, work and more work, no time, less time, “I’ve got to do this”, “I’ve forgot to handle that.” The world is spinning endless on the pendulum of decision with little time left. She puts herself aside, not even considering herself a part of the equation. A sacrifice to her, but how does she function in her own life, without even considering the existence of herself. Paradox. She makes it possible by being everything to everybody. A circle of people around her with their hands out always crying “give me”, she grows tired, running to each person from north to south, east to west. She needs to hear that still small voice, she just needs to hear God’s still small voice. (And I sigh)
